Tottenham regularly monitoring Club Brugge forward Andreas Skov Olsen

Tottenham Hotspur are regularly making checks on Club Brugge forward Andreas Skov Olsen ahead of a potential January swoop.

Andreas Skov Olsen

Spurs were bold to splash the cash during the summer transfer window, with Dominic Solanke becoming the most expensive signing in the club’s history. The England international completed a £65million move from Bournemouth in August. In addition, the north Londoners also improved their wide options.

Wilson Odobert arrived from Championship club Burnley, while South Korean talent Min-hyeok Yang is set to arrive from FC Gangwon in January. Yet, it looks like Ange Postecoglou wants to further fortify his wide options, with Spurs reportedly keen on Club Brugge’s Andreas Skov Olsen.

Skov Olsen, 24, has revived his career at Club Brugge after failing to cut the mustard in Serie A with Bologna. The Denmark international has established himself as one of the highly rated forwards in the continent, thanks to his versatility, vision, flair and goalscoring ability. Unsurprisingly, his performances have put a lot of clubs on red alert, including Tottenham.

Tottenham unlikely to sign Timo Werner permanently

Spurs re-signed Timo Werner on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig after being impressed by his performances in the second half of last campaign. The German only managed two goals and three assists, but his overall work ethic and pressing did persuade the north Londoners to bring him back.

However, things haven’t been smooth sailing for the forward. He has struggled with form and confidence, managing only one goal in 11 appearances across all competitions this season. Werner isn’t the first-choice option in attack, but due to injuries to Son Heung-min, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison, Big Ange has been forced to use him regularly.

Following his poor performances, Spurs are unlikely to turn the Germany international’s loan deal into a permanent move. A January exit could also be on the cards, and if Werner does leave, Spurs could be forced to invest in a wide forward.

Andreas Skov Olsen scouted by Spurs

Skov Olsen could be a straight upgrade on the highly inconsistent Werner at Spurs. The 24-year-old is versatile enough to operate out wide and centrally, and he will chip in with goals and assists.

The Dane has been a key player for Club Brugge in the last couple of seasons. He can bring something different to the Spurs attack whilst adding competition within the squad. At 24, Skov Olsen is at the right age to test himself at a better league and in a bigger club.

Playing in the Premier League and joining a club like Tottenham could be ideal for the Club Brugge ace. Under Big Ange’s watchful eyes, Skov Olsen could fulfil his true potential and take Spurs’ attack to a new level. All in all, Spurs must try beating a host of clubs for the Denmark international’s signature in January.
