Tottenham Hotspur have lodged an offer worth €45 million for Facundo Buonanotte, who is on loan at Leicester City from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Facundo Buonanotte, 20, has been one of the rare bright sparks in an otherwise torrid campaign for Leicester City, who are currently embroiled in a relegation dogfight. They have lost four games in a row in the Premier League with their latest defeat coming at the hands of the champions at the King Power Stadium.
The Argentinean playmaker has scored four goals and supplied two assists in 16 Premier League games. The youngster’s performances have caught the attention of several clubs in the Premier League and across Europe. Tottenham have reportedly made the first step to sign Buonanotte, as Ange Postecoglou looks to reinforce his attacking ranks during the winter transfer window. However, the €45 million offer may not be enough for Brighton to sell their young talent.
Facundo Buonanotte has been linked with a move to Spurs
Ange Postecoglou is looking for January reinforcements amid an injury crisis the North Londoners are experiencing this season.
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are both dealing with injury issues, while academy starlet Mikey Moore has been out for over a month with a bad virus. Son Heung-min has also had his fair share of injury problems this season, which has left Ange Postecoglou short of options to rotate in attack.
Spurs have changed their transfer policy from recruiting established stars to young talents in the last few years. They recruited young talents in the form of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Odobert in the summer transfer window, and the club chiefs would like to enhance their pool of highly regarded prospects by signing Facundo Buonanotte.
Buonanotte has been a key piece of this Leicester City side, impressing with his creativity, dribbling and versatility. The Argentina youth international can play in multiple positions across midfield and attack, making him a brilliant fit in Postecoglou’s high-octane system at Tottenham. And at 20, he would also fit the profile of signings Spurs have targeted in the last few transfer windows.
However, Brighton will have a final say on the South American prodigy’s future. Now that Tottenham have made quite an interesting offer, the ball is now in the Seagulls’ court to contemplate it and decide on Buonanotte.
