Jude Bellingham finally scored against Osasuna in what is proving to be a very different start to the season with Real Madrid compared to his first year in the white shirt, when he saw the goal with incredible, amazing ease. Now everything is different.
The Englishman’s performances have nothing to do with what he showed last year. He himself has stressed that the coach asks him for different things, that he has played further away from the goal and that his position has been different, so his options to reach the opponent’s area have been limited.
However, there are many critical voices who also point out that his form is not the same and that his performance has dropped alarmingly. In the 2023-24 season he scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists. This year he has scored one goal and four assists. The difference is abysmal and Ancelotti will have to look for the reasons why this Bellingham is light years away in his offensive production from the one who arrived at Real Madrid.
Offensive blackout
And of course, Real Madrid has noticed this offensive blackout of one of its stars. Added to this is the fact that Mbappe’s best version is not being seen either and that injuries are plaguing the Madrid squad. Many circumstances explain the delicate moment that both Bellingham and Real Madrid are going through. Ancelotti must be the one to reverse the situation and get back to seeing the best version of the Englishman, vital for his team to function as it did last season.
For now, in his last game he scored a great goal and we will have to wait to see if it is circumstantial or if Jude recovers that magic that made him so popular in his first year with Real Madrid.
