Sir Gerhard Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Odds

The second race on Day 2 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival gets underway with the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at 2.10pm. One of the standout horses in that race is the Willie Mullins trained Sir Gerhard. The Irish racing trainer will be hopeful of one of his star horses claiming victory on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival.

Mullins’ trains the current fourth betting favourite in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase – Sir Gerhard.

The 8-year-old gelding currently sits at odds of around 9/2 with the best horse racing betting sites. Sir Gerhard has won all but two races he has featured in. He has won at Cheltenham the past two years as well in the Champion Bumper in 2021 and Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle in 2022.

Last time out was Sir Gerhard’s first chase run, winning at Gowran Park by an incredible 38 lengths. If he can replicate this form on Wednesday, he has every chance of making it a hat-trick of wins at Cheltenham.

The Irish gelding has experience at Cheltenham and knows how to win here, which will stand him in good stead in this one. He certainly looks a strong horse and the one of the ones to beat here in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase.

In terms of Cheltenham odds, Sir Gerhard’s odds could well shorten as the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase race approaches. Depending on the movement in the betting market he could even go off as the second favourite behind Gerri Colombe.

The Gordon Elliott-trained Gerri Colombe could be Sir Gerhard’s biggest threats, along with Patrick Neville’s The Real Whacker.

Mullins’ 8-year-old is certainly one of the biggest names in the race and an eye-catching horse here. Fellow legendary trainer Nicky Henderson doesn’t have a runner here, but you can still check out Willie Mullins vs Nicky Henderson head-to-head racing stats and net worth by clicking the link.
