Arsenal see centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes as an integral part of their future and will eventually look to extend the Brazilian’s contract, a report has revealed.
Gabriel and his centre-back partner, William Saliba, have both enjoyed two outstanding seasons at club level. The latter has recently found himself linked with a blockbuster transfer, and the rumour mill has swept Gabriel up in recent days as well.
Indeed, reports claim Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have expressed interest in Gabriel, with the 26-year-old claimed to be a cheaper target than Saliba for Europe’s heavyweights.
While the trio’s interest in Gabriel comes as no surprise given his sensational form, Fabrizio Romano notes Arsenal have given no thought to the idea of parting way with the Brazilian.
His contract runs until 2027 and, as of yet, there has been no progress towards an extension, although that is largely because Arsenal have not yet made a formal move to tie Gabriel down – something which is likely to happen in the near future.
Arsenal still see Gabriel as a key part of both the present and the future, and they showed their commitment to him by rejecting a bid from Saudi Arabia last summer.
Gabriel has admitted he had to be convinced to remain at Arsenal by manager Mikel Arteta, having lost his place in the starting lineup for the start of the 2023/24 season, but he is now one of the first names on the team sheet and any frustrations between the two have been put to bed.
