Elif Karaarslan issued her first statements after she was suspended by the Turkish Football Federation’s refereeing commission for allegedly starring in a sex video with a manager.
The 24-year-old Turkish referee took to social media to clarify that the content circulating on social networks, apparently with Orhan Erdemir, a 61-year-old referee supervisor, is not her and was created by Artificial Intelligence.
Elif Karaarslan defends herself from accusation over intimate video
“I have a long legal road ahead of me, but I will overcome it in the strongest and most forceful way. I hope to have all your support and love in this process,” she wrote.
The Turkish referee made clear the difficult moments she is facing, although she will defend her innocence: “Crying, screaming and being sad are not things I would do, that’s not who I am.
“I will defend my cause to the end. I am just one of many who are being harmed. I hope to be the last,” she insisted on her Instagram account, which has climbed to nearly half a million followers after the scandal splashing her.
“There is a sex video that is intended to be associated with me, but it has nothing to do with me and the quality of the image is extremely bad. I am not the person in the video and the fact that I am facing such a serious accusation is an attack on a woman’s honor,” Elif Karaarslan concluded.
Elif Karaarslan says video was created with AI
These words support those issued by her lawyer, who through a statement insisted that “the sex video was generated with malicious intentions with artificial intelligence.”
“A staged video was posted on social media, which was not the original and was created entirely through AI from someone else’s account on social media and has no relation to my client in any way,” said the lawyer.
“When you examine the video it is very clear that the image is not clear and that parts of the relationship were completely edited by computer.”
