Manchester United are interested in signing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils are working to bring in a new left-back owing to injury issues with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Both Shaw and Malacia are both yet to make a Premier League appearance this season due to being in the treatment room, so the likes of Noussair Mazraoui, Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez have operated on the left-hand side of defence.
Ruben Amorim has succeeded Erik ten Hag as the new head coach of the club, and the Portuguese tactician is likely to set up in his preferred 3-4-3 formation. Thus, he could look to recruit another option to operate as the left wing-back in his system.
As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 20-time English champions are monitoring Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez ahead of a possible swoop.
“So, let me say today in a very clear way, Manchester United are working on a new left-back, a left wing-back. Call him as you want, as he plays with a three-back. But for sure, Man United will do something there,” Romano said in his YouTube channel.
“And what I can say is that one of the players they’ve been monitoring already, before, Ruben Amorim, so he’s from the scouting and they keep monitoring, is Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth.”

Amorim could be given funds in the winter window to address a couple of key areas of his squad that currently lies 13th in the table. One position he certainly wants to reinforce is the left-back/wing-back position as Shaw has been injury-plagued for a long time now. Plus, Malacia hasn’t tasted competitive action for almost 20 months now.
Man United view Milos Kerkez as a potential long-term replacement for Shaw. They have been scouting the Hungarian since last year following his eye-catching displays for Bournemouth. He is viewed as a hugely talented player who has the potential to play at the very highest level and his Premier League experience as a 21-year-old makes him a solid long-term candidate for Amorim’s side.
Bournemouth are bracing themselves for bids to fly in for Kerkez in January or at the end of the season. There could even be approaches from the Red Devils in January, depending on the fitness of their current left-back options.
At 21, the Hungary international would be a fantastic long-term investment for the Mancunian giants. If he continues his current progression, Kerkez will help the Cherries potentially get a big fee from Man United.
