Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham set to battle for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo

The January transfer window is really hotting up now, as Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur look to battle against each other for the signing of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, is enjoying the best season of his career under Thomas Frank at Brentford. He has netted 13 goals and supplied three assists in 21 Premier League appearances. It represents his best-ever return in the top flight and his form has begun to attract attention from top English clubs. The Cameroon international’s current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium expires in 2026, which has put clubs across the Premier League on red alert.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly vying for Mbeumo’s signature in this ongoing January transfer window. However, the Bees are holding out for a lucrative fee as their preference is to keep hold of their talisman for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. They want at least €50million to let the African depart this month.

Man United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all looking for attacking reinforcements in the current winter window.

Marcus Rashford’s future is uncertain at Man United, having been left out of several games now by head coach Ruben Amorim. The England international continues to be linked heavily with a move to AC Milan, and should he depart, it would leave a gap in the Red Devils’ attacking ranks. To potentially fill that gap, INEOS are eyeing a move for Mbeumo, whose versatility should entice Amorim.

As for Arsenal, they have been struggling to score goals regularly following Bukayo Saka’s injury last month. To make matters worse, Gabriel Jesus suffered a serious knee injury in their FA Cup defeat to Man United on Sunday, ruling him out for long. This has accelerated the Gunners’ bid to sign a striker and they are now planning to make a move for Mbeumo.

Meanwhile, Tottenham broke their club transfer record by signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in the past summer transfer window. While Solanke has done well, he’s not had enough rest with Richarlison spending the majority of the first part of the campaign on the sidelines. And with now Timo Werner ruled out for weeks with a hamstring injury, Spurs are keen for the Brentford star.

It remains to be seen where Mbeumo ends up in January with interest from Premier League bigwigs starting to intensify. There is every possibility the Cameroon forward stays put at Brentford and completes the season before earning a big move away in the summer.
