Amorim makes Champions League admission
Ruben Amorim has said not playing in the Champions League next season could benefit his team.
He said: “I have to say that for us not to be in the Champions League could be an advantage to perform well, to perform better, to prepare better [for] the games.
“To build that core that we need for the future so I think it’s a good thing for us to take advantage not to have European games.
“We had some difficult moments [this season],” Amorim said. “In [those] difficult moments you can see that Bruno is the guy that takes that responsibility.
“It should be, because he’s the captain, he has that experience so he’s really important for us and really important for what we want to build with this team.”
Red Devils agree personal terms
Man Utd have agreed terms with Ipswich Town over a deal to sign Liam Delap, according to ESPN.
It’s claimed that Man Utd chiefs have agreed the “framework” of deal that would see them trigger Delap’s £30million release clause.
While the Red Devils are also thought to have come to an agreement with Delap over personal terms too.
However, a deal isn’t over the line yet with the 22-year-old still considering whether he would like to join United or head elsewhere.
United eye Prem winger
Manchester United are showing interest in Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer transfer window, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
Romano told GiveMeSport: “I can also confirm that Man United appreciate Bryan Mbeumo at Brantford, a player who did fantastic with 20 goals this season in the Premier League.
“Top player, really big mentality, also fits what they want to do in the strategy at May United, so players who can be for the future, but also ready to make an instant impact to help Ruben Amorim for the new season.
“Cunha is like that: Premier League-proven, European experience, international player with Brazil, who knows how to handle pressure and knows how to add numbers, assists and goals.
“So that’s going to be really important and then there is Bryan Mbeumo, because he is a player they appreciate.”
Phil Jones recommends ‘top’ signing
Former Red Devil Phil Jones believes Emi Martinez would be a good signing for Man Utd.
He told OLBG: “Best goalkeeper in the world is a strong statement. I like him. I think he’s a very good goalkeeper.
“I look at David De Gea, who Man Utd let go, he won us so many games, so many points throughout the season when I played with him, and obviously had a good season at Fiorentina.
“I think Emi Martinez, if he came in, would be a top signing. No, there’s no getting away from that, but it depends on whether you go for experience over a bit more youth who can develop and nurture.
“Depends if they stick with Andre Onana, if they want to stick with him, then it depends what they do, but he would be a good signing for sure if they brought him in.”
Amorim shows faith in academy
Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United’s Academy was crucial to the club’s past and it can be just as essential to our future as well.
He said: “We always prepare two plans. With and without the Champions League. Without the Champions League, we also don’t need a big squad.
“We can control the squad in a better way. Then we have a plan, that is to bring in some new players, but our big plan is to improve the team we have, to improve the Academy.
“It was the past, so it can be the future. It can’t change much because of Financial Fair Play, we are not allowed to do much, even with the Champions League, so we are prepared.
“It’s important to stick together. We are going to struggle, it’s not going to be everything right away, but I can see the team improving and that’s the most important thing.”
Club close on Osimhen deal
Man Utd target Osimhen is in advanced negotiations with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, according to Sky Sports.
It is believed that Osimhen’s mammoth three-year contract could see him earn close to £15m per season playing in the Gulf nation.
While Al Hilal are confident they will get the deal over the line, Osimhen’s move will not be finalised until the club receive the necessary funds from the Saudi government to sign their man.
Saudi’s Ministry of Sports have not yet given the green light to release these funds, without which a deal would be impossible.
However, Al Hilal are not worried about this, and their club president has reportedly even received verbal confirmation of Osimhen’s desire to join.
