Rashford future ‘difficult to plan’
Aston Villa chief Unai Emery believes Marcus Rashford’s future is still up in the air after Aston Villa’s Champions League exit.
PSG KO’d Villa – with Emery praising his loanee striker form Manchester United.
The ex-Arsenal boss said: “It is difficult to plan it now.
“He is feeling better, and he played a fantastic match. We are very happy.
“If he is happy, we are happy. It depends on the circumstances for now and the next weeks.”
‘Arsenal & Utd target Gyokeres may struggle in Prem’
Prime Prem target Viktor Gyokeres could be a risky big-money buy.
That’s the verdict of ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas on the ex- Sporting Lisbon striker.
The Gunners have been the main English club linked with the Swede, but Manchester United and Chelsea have also been mentioned.
He’s notched 31 goals and assists in only 28 Portuguese top-flight games this season.
But Gallas told Slingo: “It could be completely different for him in the Premier League, it will be a big change.
‘Can Gyokeres adapt to the Premier League? That is the question. He is 26 years old, I don’t know if he can be one of the best strikers in Europe. If he comes to Arsenal, it will be another level of pressure for him.
‘It happens a lot when a player is doing really well at a smaller club, then they crumble at a bigger club.
“Gyokeres will have a level of responsibility he has never had in his career if he were to join Arsenal.”
Yoro calm after Thierry jibe
Manchester United ace Leny Yoro has broken his silence after coming in for criticism from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry during a controversial segment of analysis on Monday Night Football.
Yoro was in Henry’s firing line as the France great called him out for instinctively looking to the linesman after Harvey Barnes’ second goal in Newcastle’s 4-1 thrashing of United on Sunday.
The legendary forward claimed he’d “never seen that before”, and impersonated the centre-back’s glance to the official live in the Sky Sports studio.
A video of the analysis shared on Twitter led to widespread criticism of the Barcelona hero for “nonsense” and “pathetic” analysis – the clip has since been removed by Sky Sports.
And now Yoro has posted on social media himself for the first time since the controversy.
The France international took to Instagram to post a photo of himself looking dejected after the defeat to the Magpies alongside a bible passage.
It read: “Do not be anxious about anything, but always ask God for what you need. And when you pray, ask for it with thanksgiving. Philippians 4:6.”
Harry’s ’50-50′ blast at United
Harry Maguire has blamed United stars for so many tight defeats.
The Red Devils defender said: “think there are key aspects in games where us players have got to take more responsibility and change them in our favour.
“There have been a lot of games that have been 50-50 and we’ve ended up on the bad end of a result.
“That’s something we do need to work on as a team, as a group of players.”
Maguire’s stark confession
Harry Maguire believes even Europa League glory wouldn’t save Manchester United’s season.
United hope to book a semi-final spot tomorrow night when they host Lyon level at 2-2 from the first leg.
Winning the trophy would put Ruben Amorim’s men in the Champions League next term.
But Maguire said: “From the start of the season we’ve been far too inconsistent…. It’s been a disappointing season, there’s no doubt about it.
“But this game is an important night for us in the competition, a big game at Old Trafford, a European night and one we’re looking forward to. It’s so important.
“If we do win the Europa League, it’s still going to be a disappointing season for us players, but winning that would be a big bonus
Playing for this club demands trophies and winning the Europa League would be a special one to win, of course.”
Young Cheri picked for Utd training
Manchester United teenager Gabriele Biancheri joined Ruben Amorim’s first team training earlier today.
The Red Devils boss, 40, was preparing his side for Thursday night’s crucial Europa League quarter-final second leg against Lyon.
Man Utd will go into the match without Joshua Zirkzee, after the forward was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring issue.
Rasmus Hojlund is the only senior centre-forward available to Amorim for tomorrow night’s crunch clash with Lyon.
Biancheri, 18, signed from Cardiff in February 2023 and this season has netted 20 goals in 30 games across the PL2, Under-18 Premier League, Uefa Youth League, FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy.
The Welshman is not part of Man Utd’s 25-man squad for the Europa League. But he is eligible to be added to the club’s B List and thus be available to play tomorrow night.
To be added to the B List, a player must have been born on or later than January 1, 2003 – and have been at the club for two or more uninterrupted years.
But fellow striker Chido Obi is not eligible. The forward has made four first team appearances for United but only joined from Arsenal last September, so does not hit the B List criteria.
