PHIL FODEN’s grandmother has slammed Manchester United fans for taunting the England star with “disgusting” abuse.
The Man City forward was targeted by vile chants about his mum Claire Rowlands during the Manchester derby on April 6.
Foden was seen sarcastically applauding sections of the Old Trafford support with the chants audible on TV.
City boss Pep Guardiola later slammed United supporters for a “lack of class” and said they should be “ashamed”.
Foden himself has not publicly addressed the vile slurs.
But now his grandmother Mary Keates has hit out – describing Claire as a “wonderful woman and mother”.
She told the Daily Mail: “It really upset me and the whole of the family, it’s disgusting.
“It really hurt to hear what was being shouted by the fans about Claire.
“These people need to have a good look at themselves. Claire is a wonderful woman and mother.
“I don’t want to say too much because it makes me so angry and makes me feel sick.”

Foden was left out of Manchester City’s squad to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The 24-year-old picked up a knock during the 0-0 draw with United last weekend.
Pep told TNT Sports: “He got injured at Old Trafford and didn’t recover well.”
Despite Foden’s omission, City ran out emphatic 5-2 winners at the Etihad.
Palace raced into a 2-0 lead early in the contest.
But the defending champions stormed back with goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly.

PHIL FODEN may be flashy on the pitch, but the Premier League’s Player of the Year is a humble family man off it.

Foden only passed his driving test last year… and turns up for training in City’s glittering club car park in a £40k VOLKSWAGEN.
And in his spare time he loves nothing more than a FISHING trip.
He celebrated his first big City contract by buying his mum and dad a Cheshire mansion and lives with them until 2021.
But Foden has now splashed out on a luxury £3million mansion for his own growing family.
