Ernest Nuamah

A product of FC Nordsjaelland academy, the Ghanaian, 21, impressed on a season-long loan at Lyon from RWD Molenbeek last year which prompted the Ligue 1 club to sign him permanently in July. In the final days of the past summer transfer window, his move to Fulham collapsed at the 11th hour.

Regardless of an agreement with Lyon and medical tests, Ernest Nuamah disappeared during the final stages of the deal due to his reluctance to leave Lyon. This later forced Lyon owner John Textor to apologize to the Cottagers for the embarrassing situation. Yet, Fulham are still reportedly interested in the player but face competition from London rivals Crystal Palace.

Ernest Nuamah on the radar of Premier League clubs

Ernest Nuamah is looking for a new adventure after struggling for game time at Lyon this season. He has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances, but is yet to contribute a goal or an assist. In the Europa League, though, the speedy winger has scored and an assisted a goal apiece.

The 12-cap Ghana international can certainly do well by leaving Lyon in January. The Ligue 1 side are demanding a fee of around €25-30 million for the youngster, but his suitors from clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga are reluctant to meet their asking price. As a result, Lyon may well have to have settle for a loan deal with an option/obligation to buy.

A team like Crystal Palace could certainly benefit from some fresh attacking impetus in January, having looked devoid of energy, imagination and creativity in the opening months of the new campaign. Nuamah could add new vigor and spark to the Eagles’ attack, potentially combining well with the likes of Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Fulham, meanwhile, will think twice before engaging in a deal with Lyon for Nuamah, even though they hold an interest in the player. In Harry Wilson, Adama Traore, Reiss Nelson, Alex Iwobi and Ryan Sessegnon, they do lack stocked in wide department. So, the Cottagers aren’t desperate for a new winger at the moment.

However, if Marco Silva seeks a new wide player, the club chiefs may knock Lyon’s door again for Nuamah.
