But Kop chief Slot, according to reports, won’t be able to call on the services of Elliott for the forseeable future.

That’s according to The Times, who claim the former Fulham star fractured his foot whilst he was on international duty with England‘s Under-21s.

Elliott didn’t feature in the Under-21s’ matches against Northen Ireland and Austria, which they drew 0-0 and won 4-1.

It’s clamed the 21-year-old returned to Liverpool for further assessment after he told England’s medical team he felt discomfort in his foot.

Elliott is reportedly set to miss the next six weeks while he recovers from the fracture.

Liverpool have yet to confirm the reported injury to Elliot, who joined the Kop club in the summer of 2019.

Elliott’s reported injury comes at a far from ideal time for the Reds, who kick off their Champions League campaign away to AC Milan next Tuesday.

New Kop chief Slot has made a 100 per cent start to life at Anfield and his troops have yet to concede a goal.

The Dutchman seems to have picked up right where former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp – who left the club at the end of last season – left off.

And Elliott believes the 45-year-old former Ajax boss and his coaching staff have slotted in nicely.

He said: “I feel like it’s a great connection between staff and players.

“We all want the same thing and we’re all pushing towards it.

“They just want to make us the best possible players we can be.”

He added: “We just need to trust what he’s telling us and his style of play, and the information he gives us.

“He’s the man in charge and hopefully he can lead us to success.”
