Liverpool have identified Juventus winger Federico Chiesa as a late summer transfer target.
The Italy international, 26, has been told by new Juventus manager Thiago Motta that he isn’t part of his plans going forward. Having been told to leave the club, the winger is now exploring options for his next adventure.
Federico Chiesa is understood to be interested in playing Premier League football, potentially giving Liverpool an advantage in securing his signature. The Reds have reportedly contacted Juventus over a potential deal in the final week of the summer transfer window; however, they aren’t the only club keen on him. Barcelona are also interested in signing the Euro 2020 winner, who has entered the final year of his contract at Old Lady.
The 26-year-old enjoyed his best career haul in a Juventus shirt last season with nine goals in Serie A as he began to return to the levels of fitness and form that once made him one of the best players in Italy. Chiesa’s development has been hindered by the ACL injury he had suffered a couple of years ago, but having managed to keep himself fit for the majority of the 2023/24 campaign, clubs could be willing to take a punt on him this summer.
Predominantly a left-winger, Chiesa can play on the opposite flank, as a No.10 or lead the attack, and such versatility would make him a real asset for Liverpool under Arne Slot. While the Merseyside outfit do have enough options in attack, the Italian could bring a different dimension to their offensive department.
Liverpool close to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili
Liverpool have agreed a €35m deal with Valencia for the signing of highly-rated goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. He will spend this season on loan at Valencia and officially arrive at Anfield in the summer of 2025.
The Reds have started planning for the future and that saw them secure the signing of Mamardashvili, who has been excellent for Valencia since 2022. The 23-year-old, who started for Georgia at the Euro 2024, has been at the centre of rumour mill for a number of weeks. Finally, while he will go down as the first signing of the Arne Slot era, Mamardashvili will continue playing in Spain until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Liverpool thrashing out a deal for the Georgian glovesman comes in the wake of their undisputed No.1 Alisson Becker recently revealing that he has rejected advances from cash-rich Saudi Pro League clubs earlier this summer.
