Lingard breaks silence on police probe after investigation into deleted video

JESSE LINGARD has claimed that he “didn’t know the rules” after a police probe was reportedly launched into the former Man Utd’s star’s use of an e-scooter.

Lingard posted a video to social media of himself riding an electric scooter on the streets of his new home of South Korea, which has since been deleted.

Lingard, 31, currently plays his club football for K-League club FC Seoul.

After a ruling was passed earlier this year, people found to be riding an e-scooter without a license in South Korea can be fined 10,000 won (£56.85).

While those riding without a helmet face a fine of 20,000 won (£11.47).

The Korea Times reported yesterday that Seoul police had launched an investigation into Lingard’s now-deleted video.

And the 32-time England international has since posted a video to his Instagram explaining that he didn’t know the rules, while warning other people not to do the same.

He said: “Obviously I was on an e-scooter yesterday, driving around for a couple of minutes on the e-scooter,.

“I didn’t know the rules of wearing a helmet or having a license as well.

“In England, and probably in Europe as well, you can just pick up an e-bike or e-scooter off the street and just start riding it.

“To anyone visiting South Korea, obviously, you’ve got to check the rules. It can be dangerous. Safety first for everyone. Helmets on and obviously, I won’t do that again.”

Adding in a secondary post: “Sorry guys in my previous video I meant countries outside the UK have different rules for riding an e-scooter. Regardless, stay safe and know the rules.”

Jesse Lingard fires wildly over the bar on K League debut

Lingard joined FC Seoul in February of this year after leaving Nottingham Forest as a free agent in 2023.

The former Red Devil has since made just 18 appearances for the club after struggling with injuries since his arrival in South Korea.

Lingard has managed to score four times in those 18 games.
