English pundit Micah Richards says he has noticed something really ‘scary’ about Arne Slot’s Liverpool

Liverpool are on track to lift the Premier League title, and if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace in midweek, they could be declared champions on Wednesday itself. But if the Gunners don’t, the Reds must win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to clinch the Premier League title.

Arne Slot deserves massive plaudits for working his magic in his debut season at Anfield. Having replaced the legendary Jurgen Klopp at the helm in 2024, the Dutch tactician is on the verge of guiding the club to the league success without barely any help from the transfer market.

Liverpool have lost just two of their first 33 Premier League games, which is a very impressive record. The team has managed to combine attacking flair with defensive robustness to produce productive results under Slot. The Merseyside outfit have been excellent and deserve their title.

Former Manchester City right-back turned pundit Micah Richards feels this is just the start for the Reds. He is finding it really ‘scary’ because Slot is set to guide the club to the league title without any investment in the transfer market. The Englishman thinks Liverpool still have another gear to go, backing them to win the title against next season if they can sign a prolific striker.

“You know what’s scary? I still believe they have got another gear to go. They are going to get some transfers,” Micah Richards said on the Rest is Football podcast.

“They miss a lot of chances, they could have someone as clinical as maybe, not Salah, but maybe someone a level below. I think they are going to be a real threat next season again.”

Liverpool expected to spend big in the summer transfer window

Liverpool have secured the futures of Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk by handing them contract extensions earlier this month. While the summer window does not open for two months, the focus is already on the incomings and outgoings.

A replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold will most likely be required, along with a central defender and holding midfielder. Another striker has been mooted, with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota netting just 18 goals between them this season—only 11 in the league. The Anfield chiefs are open to selling Nunez and Jota this summer, while Luis Diaz has emerged as a target for the cash-rich Saudi Arabian clubs.

If that happens, Liverpool will need new attackers before the 2025/26 campaign begins. The Merseysiders are confident that they can sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. The Swede, who has been in sensational goalscoring form this season, has not signed a new deal at Newcastle, giving Liverpool hope that they can entice him to the red half of the Merseyside with their sporting project and regular Champions League football.
