Deion Sanders, the legendary two-time Super Bowl champion and current head coach at Colorado, has made a bold prediction about his son, Shedeur Sanders. Deion firmly believes that Shedeur, a highly sought-after quarterback prospect, will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Speaking on The Pacman Jones Show, Deion confidently stated, “Shedeur’s gonna be the number one pick.”
He reiterated this when asked directly about the New York Giants potentially holding the top pick, saying, “Giants are not gonna give up their pick. They’re not gonna give up their pick. Shedeur’s gonna be the number one pick.”
Shedeur Sanders, 22, has been turning heads as one of the top prospects for the upcoming draft class. Alongside other standout names like Cam Ward and Travis Hunter, Shedeur has consistently been ranked high on draft boards. The New York Giants, currently sitting at a dismal 2-12 record for the season, are in prime position to secure the first overall pick in April’s draft. If Deion’s prediction holds true, Shedeur could very well find himself in New York next season.
The Las Vegas Raiders, another team with a 2-12 record, are also in contention for a high draft pick. While Deion is confident about his son’s future with the Giants, he speculated about the Raiders’ potential choices. “The Raiders could go with Cam or there could be some junk in the game and take Trav,” he said, referring to Cam Ward and Travis Hunter as possible alternatives.
Deion weighs in on NFL Draft predictions
Interestingly, Shedeur has been linked to the Raiders in recent weeks. He fueled speculation by posting a picture of their Allegiant Stadium on Instagram, sparking questions about his interest in Las Vegas. Appearing on The Travis Hunter Show, Shedeur addressed the buzz surrounding his post. When asked why he shared the image, he casually replied, “Because it’s a nice stadium, bro,” prompting laughter from Hunter.
The quarterback’s impressive performances at Colorado under his father’s coaching have solidified his status as one of the most exciting prospects in college football. As the draft approaches, teams like the Giants and Raiders will undoubtedly be weighing their options carefully. With several other teams-such as the Patriots, Jaguars, Panthers, Titans, and Browns-also vying for high draft picks, Shedeur’s future in the NFL remains a hot topic of discussion.
