Crystal Palace eyeing shock swoop for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford

Crystal Palace are plotting a shock summer swoop for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.

The England international joined Aston Villa on loan during the January transfer window after falling out of favour under head coach Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. The Red Devils’ boss was unhappy with the forward’s attitude in training and constantly kept omitting him from his squads since the 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in mid-December.

Marcus Rashford had no option but to leave the club during the 2025 transfer intervals. Aston Villa came calling for his signature and he joined them on loan, with Unai Emery’s side having a £40 million purchase option in June. However, should they reject the chance of signing him permanently at the end of the season, Crystal Palace would reportedly be keen on swooping for Rashford.

Crystal Palace keeping tabs on Marcus Rashford

Rashford has shown signs of revival, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 22 appearances for Aston Villa thus far which earned him a recall to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers last month.

The English forward has thrived under Emery at Villa Park, and ideally the Villans would be expected to take up the £40 million purchase option in his contract. However, if they don’t, Crystal Palace would jump to sign the Man United loanee. The Eagles executives are keeping close tabs on Rashford’s performances for Villa ahead of a potential summer swoop.

“Palace are keeping a very close eye on Rashford and what happens with Villa and United,” A source told the Sun.

“There is a good buzz around the club at the moment and someone like Marcus is exactly the kind of player they would love to attract.

“They know they would have to keep onto their better players to try and persuade Marcus to move to South London.”

Oliver Glasner has built an exciting squad around Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr. However, the likes of Eze, Wharton and Mateta have all been linked with an exit from Selhurst Park.

Eze has had another productive season for Palace, but it could end up being his final campaign at the club. The South Londoners regard the England international as one of their valuable assets, and their desire is to keep hold of him for many years to come. But, that wish may not be enough to keep the Greenwich-born talent for another season.

Should Eze departs the Eagles, the club chiefs could decide to replace him with Rashford, who appears to have no future at Man United under Amorim.
