Chelsea have enjoyed an impressive start to life under new manager Enzo Maresca, with plenty of their star players finding form early in the 2024/25 season.
That form led to a very strong month of September for the club in which they won four out of their five games in all competitions – scoring 14 goals in the process.
Based upon a poll 90min conducted in our dedicated Chelsea fan WhatsApp channel (link to follow down below), more than 96,000 fans have made their candidate for the club’s September’s player of the month clear.
2,173 of votes in our poll went to the ‘others’ category, but who are those ‘others’?
Well, we’ll guess one is Mr. Christopher Nkunku who, while he isn’t a starter in the Premier League, has made the most of his minutes in other competitions – netting a hat-trick in a Carabao Cup win over Barrow.
Another rotation player, Pedro Neto has also caught the eye with his performances in cup competitions, leading to many Chelsea fans to call for the wide forward to become a regular starter ahead of Noni Madueke.
Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez deserves a mention too for his penalty save against Bournemouth – one of his seven stops in the 1-0 win.
In terms of players who specifically got votes, in fourth spot we had Moises Caicedo who tallied 3,798. Thanks to his £115m price tag, Moises Caicedo was a pretty easy target for boo boys last season. This season under new manager Enzo Maresca however, Chelsea fans are starting to see exactly why their club forked out so much money to sign the midfielder.
Caicedo was fairly fantastic throughout September, winning a rather outrageous 36 duels in just four games during the month.
In third place, we had 5,493 for Nicolas Jackson who, say what you want about him, but he scores bloody goals. That’s exactly what he did in September, netting three goals in four games, as well as adding two assists.
His tally for the season now stands at seven goal contributions in seven Premier League appearances. That’s pretty damn good if you ask us.
And just ahead of Jackson we had one Jadon Sancho, who amassed 6,365 votes in total. The wide forward, shipped out on loan by Man Utd once again, has been fantastic since making the move to Stamford Bridge.
After making an immediate impact during his debut against Bournemouth – setting up the winning goal – Sancho hasn’t really looked back, becoming a key creative component of Maresca’s forward line.
Cole Palmer received 80,954 of the total votes.
So yes, this poll was an utter landslide.
And it should have been, because Cole Palmer is the best player in the Premier League right now.
He proved that by putting in one of the best performances in the league’s modern history against Brighton at the end of September, netting four goals in the space of 20 first-half minutes to earn his side a 4-2 win. He’s too good.
