TOTTENHAM and Chelsea players came to blows in a feisty brawl as Thursday night’s London derby boiled over just before half time.
Players from both sides were involved in a tussle near the Tottenham penalty area after Cristian Romero shoved Levi Colwill to the ground.
Tempers first flared after Colwill put a strong challenge in on Micky van de Ven as Spurs, who were trailing 1-0 at the time, tried to counter.
The challenge was deemed to be a foul by the referee, but Spurs players were still unhappy.
Almost every player dressed in white took issue with the foul, throwing their hands up in the air in protest.
But Romero was especially displeased and decided to take action with Colwill himself.
The Argentine centre-back stormed over to Colwill and steam-rolled him to the ground in frustration.
That sparked Chelsea players to stand up for their team-mate and a mass brawl ensued.
Trevoh Chalobah confronted Romero before James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Djed Spence began trying to tear him away from the situation.
Referee Craig Pawson was left helpless given the sheer number of players involved.

After things had calmed down slightly, Pawson reached into his pocket to start brandishing some punishments.
Colwill was fortunate to not be booked for his initial foul that prevented the counter attack, while Chalobah and Romero both landed themselves a yellow card for their involvement.
The game kicked into life after that as Enzo Fernandez bagged a second half headed goal to put Chelsea 1-0 up.
Spurs thought they had drawn level later in the game when Pape Matar Sarr scored a delightful long-range effort.
But that goal was ruled out by VAR as Sarr was deemed to have fouled Moises Caicedo in the build up.
Chelsea then held firm to take all three points and leap back into the top four with a 1-0 win.
Meanwhile Tottenham are languishing in 14th place after yet another dismal display.
