Robert De Zerbi has defined his resolution to take off Ansu Fati at half-time of Brighton’s Carabao Cup conflict towards Chelsea on Wednesday.

Fati solely lasted 45 minutes of the defeat, however De Zerbi says it was all a part of the plan as he needs the teenager to be concerned on the weekend.

“Before the game I spoke with him, because Ansu played 45 minutes on Sunday against Bournemouth,” he informed reporters.

“Now, after I determine the primary XI I keep within the workplace with my employees and the medical employees, as a result of Ansu within the final interval (with Barcelona) didn’t play so many video games.

“If I play him for 90 minutes, 90 minutes, 90 minutes, it’s a giant danger for him, for us.

“After the game I spoke with him and I told him he could play only 45 minutes to be in good condition for Saturday, because on Saturday we have another big game.”

Brighton are again in Premier League motion on the weekend towards Aston Villa.
