Aston Villa vs PSG LIVE SCORE: Villans look to stage MONUMENTAL comeback

Half-time – Aston Villa 1-2 PSG (Agg: 2-5)

That half-time whistle goes and Villa Park takes a moment to breathe.

The Premier League side are down on aggregate, down on the night, but not yet out after Youri Tielemans’ deflected strike gave them something to cling to.

Goals from full-backs Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes appeared to have taken the tie beyond the English hosts, only for some light to descend on the Holte End.

A big final 45 minutes awaits. It’s a huge task. But not an impossible one.

44. Fabian Ruiz is enjoying both sides of the midfield battle.

The Spaniard is not afraid to stick a boot in when necessary, but then also has a lovely touch about him when moving the Ligue Un team up the pitch.

42. John McGinn goes into the book.

It’s hardly a surprise, you suspected it was coming with his next misdemeanour and so it proved with a foul on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

40. In response to that Villa goal, PSG are doing everything they can to slow this game down.

The hosts, meanwhile, are eager to play it at one hundred miles an hour.

From Graeme Bryce at Villa Park

Villa burst out of the traps and pinned PSG back to begin with.

But it’s all gone horribly wrong as PSG have cut them to shreds twice on the break to open up a two-goal lead.

It says everything about Luis Enrique’s team that both goals have come from their FULL-BACKS!

Achraf Hakimi was on hand to tap home PSG’s opener after 11 minutes after Emi Martinez could only push out Bradley Barcola’s low cross.

Villa tried gamely to recover and Pau Torres forced a desperate save from Donnarumma before Rogers curled a low shot inches wide.

But Nuno Mendes sucked the life out of Villa Park when he pounced to send a cutback in off the far post to put PSG 2-0 up.

However Youri Tielemans has just given Villa hope as he pulls one back with the help of a deflection off Willian Pacho.

Villa have taken the first step up that mountain!

37. Oh! Was that a kick out by Achraf Hakimi at John McGinn?!

In typical McGinn fashion, his enthusiasm and momentum took him clattering into the PSG right-back inside the penalty area.

But as both players lay on the ground ahead of a free-kick for the visitors, the Moroccan clearly thrust his boot in the direction of the Scot.

He’s lucky he didn’t make contact, because if he had have done, then referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez and his VAR colleagues would have had a decision to make.
