Arsenal have been offered the opportunity to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old put in a Man of the Match display for France in their UEFA Nations League win over Belgium, netting both of his nation’s goals in a 2-1 victory last week. However, he has endured an underwhelming start to the domestic season, scoring just two goals in his first nine games across all competitions thus far.
Paris Saint-Germain had shelled big bucks to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but they are yet to see him explode. The France international, who still has four years left to run on his contract at Parc des Princes, has bagged only 11 goals and six assists from 49 appearances in PSG colours.
Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs to have been given the chance to bring the centre-forward to the Emirates Stadium, as Kolo Muani’s agents continue their best to drum up interest by approaching several European clubs before the transfer window reopens.
Arsenal need an elite striker to compete with Man City for the Premier League title
Arsenal were concretely interested in recruiting a No.9 in the summer transfer window but failed to land one. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko was their primary target, while Newcastle United star Alexander Isak attracted interest from the Gunners as well.
Gabriel Jesus has just not been able to keep himself fit and deliver the goods consistently ever since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has struggled with injury problems since the start of last season, and if he cannot shake them off, there are chances he could be offloaded by the north Londoners in the summer.
Kai Havertz may have improved leaps and bounds and scored many goals after settling down at Arsenal, but he is not a prolific striker by any means. If Arsenal are to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title this time around, they must aim to sign a very good striker in January.
Kolo Muani, in that regard, would represent a smart option for Mikel Arteta. Pacey, strong and athletic with ability to operate in tight spaces and link up play, the Frenchman would be an upgrade over Jesus and give Arteta’s side an alternative up top. His signing could turn out to be the actual boost the Gunners require to win the Premier League title.
That said, Arsenal must only push to sign Kolo Muani on loan from PSG.
