Despite facing challenges since returning to the Premier League, there’s still hope for players like Jadon Sancho, who is now a part of Chelsea, to revive their careers.
English football legend Alan Shearer has weighed in on what Jadon Sancho needs to succeed at Chelsea. Sancho, currently on a season-long loan from Manchester United, has shown glimpses of his potential in recent performances.
Shearer believes that consistency is key for Sancho, as seen in his debut for the Blues. If Sancho can maintain this level of play, Shearer feels he could gradually rediscover the form he displayed at Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho initially struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United and later had a falling out with Solskjaer’s successor, Erik ten Hag. This led to him being loaned back to Dortmund for the second half of last season.
During that loan spell, Sancho began to show flashes of the ability that once made him one of the most exciting talents in world football. Similarly, Sancho has demonstrated his potential in his first two appearances for Chelsea.
In those matches against Bournemouth and West Ham, Sancho provided key assists, showing signs of the player who once lit up the Bundesliga. These performances have led Shearer to believe that Chelsea could be the club to unlock Sancho’s full potential.
“We know there’s talent in Jadon,” Shearer told DAZN. “Getting it out of him is the thing and he wasn’t going to be able to show that at Man United.
“Jadon has shown that if he’s in the right environment and the right circumstances then he’ll be able to showcase his talent.
“He’s had a decent start at Chelsea but he has to keep it going. We saw it at Dortmund but we didn’t see it anywhere near enough at Man United.
“Chelsea have so many options in Sancho’s position. You can list four or five players that can compete on the right or left wing.
“But if we see the Jadon Sancho that we know can perform then he’ll be a great acquisition for Chelsea in terms of where they want to go.”
