DEAN HENDERSON dedicated Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win over Manchester City to his late dad.
The goalkeeper put in a top performance as he made multiple saves to keep Pep Guardiola’s men at bay.
Henderson even saved a penalty from Omar Marmoush following Ebe Eze’s 16th minute opener.
But he was also in involved in controversy after handling the ball outside the box.
Henderson palmed the ball away from the path of Erling Haaland but was not shown a card – and VAR chose not to recommend an on-field review.
After the final whistle, the ex-Man Utd goalkeeper delighted fans by donning an old-school baseball cap on the Wembley pitch.
Henderson was then involved in a post-match clash with Pep Guardiola, who waved his finger in anger at the Palace goalie.
Yet Henderson’s thoughts were fixed elsewhere.
The ace’s father Dougie sadly passed away in July just days after the Euro 2024 final, where Henderson was an unused sub in England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain.
But after finally getting his hands on the FA Cup trophy today, Henderson dedicated Palace’s win to his dad.
The former Man Utd goalie said on live TV: “It’s why I left (Man Utd), it’s what I set out to do.
“But honestly I lost my dad at the start of the season and I’ll miss him here today.
“But he was with me every kick of the ball today and I dedicate that win to him.”
Fans reacted to Henderson’s emotional tribute.
One said: “That’s incredibly touching.”
Another declared: “What a man, fantastic goalkeeper.”
One noted: “Shed a few tears.”
Another added: “RIP to him, stay strong always.”
