Current permutations as things stand at half time
Two goalless draws and a slender 1-0 Rangers lead at the break.
How does that change who the British sides could face in their next rounds?
- Man Utd – round of 16: Real Socieded, Olympiacos, Union SG, AZ
- Spurs – round of 16: Ajax, Galatasaray, Elfsborg, PAOK
- Rangers – play off: Fenerbahce, Braga
Time for that to change, of course….
HT view from Craig Mahood watching Rangers vs Union SG
The stats will show you it’s been a fairly even first half of football at Ibrox.
But Nico Raskin’s goal has Rangers ahead and just hovering outside the top eight waiting for someone to slip up.
Union SG have had the ball in the net which was ruled out for offside, before having another golden chance in stoppage time which was somehow missed.
Up the other end Cyriel Dessers had the ball in the net but was denied a third straight game with a sensational left-footed finish when the flag went up. VAR confirming there was inches in it.
So far so good at Ibrox and the fans will be sucking the ball into the net as they shoot towards the Broomloan Road in the second period.
Half-time round up for British interest
Man Utd are looking the better of the two sides as the they dominate possession and are creating the more clear-cut chances.
Despite this, they cannot find the back of the net as the score remains 0-0.
Tottenham have a similar problem in North London against Elfsborg with the Swedish side just about hanging on in there.
Rangers are flying the flag for the Brits as they lead 1-0 against Union SG with both sides having goals ruled out for offside.
