Manchester United are interested in securing the signing of Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel before next week’s transfer deadline.
Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Tuesday that Mathys Tel wants to leave Bayern Munich for regular minutes. The France under-21 international has managed just 282 minutes of action across the Bundesliga and the Champions League. He was an unused substitute for Bayern’s last three games, before being put in the starting XI in the Champions League game against Slovan Bratislava.
Manchester United will reportedly up their ante for the teenage prodigy should he be made available to leave on loan in this transfer window. The Premier League giants have so far contacted Tel’s representatives, rather than with the German champions. Moreover, they would need to make further outgoings for any move to go forward.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho linked with Old Trafford exits
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to add reinforcements to his squad. The club have reached a broad agreement with Lecce for the signing of versatile full-back Patrick Dorgu.
The Red Devils have loaned out Antony to Real Betis, but for them to make further additions, more players must be moved on. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have been heavily linked with exits from Old Trafford in recent weeks.
Rashford stated last month he was open to a new challenge, and since then the club and the forward are seeking to part ways in this window. The England international has garnered interest from AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco among several other clubs, although the forward’s options are dwindling and it remains unclear whether he will leave his Man United in the remaining days of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Garnacho has been the subject of interest from Napoli and Chelsea. Despite intense speculation surrounding his future, the Argentinean international has started the last few games for Ruben Amorim’s side and performed well.
Mathys Tel could be a smart option for Man United
Should either Rashford or Garnacho leave, chances of the former appear higher at this moment, Tel could be a good option to boost Man United’s attack that has lacked goals.
First-choice striker Rasmus Hojlund looks low on confidence and endured a torrid evening in the 1-0 win over Fulham. His deputy Joshua Zirkzee, who has four goals since arriving from Bologna last summer, continues to struggle with the pace and physicality of the Premier League.
That is when the signing of Tel could make a difference at Old Trafford, with the Frenchman capable of fulfilling multiple attacking roles in Amorim’s system. The Sarcelles-born talent would bring pace, energy, dynamism and flair to the team, but most importantly goals.
With just a few days left for the winter window to slam shut, it will be interesting to see whether Man United can get Tel on loan from Bayern.
