LSU quarterback Colin Hurley is recovering after a serious car accident near the university’s Baton Rouge campus early Thursday morning. The freshman, who was reportedly found unresponsive but breathing, was pulled from his Dodge Charger by firefighters following the crash. The vehicle collided with a tree near South Quad Drive and Highland Road around 2:45 a.m.
According to WBRZ, Hurley was “in and out of consciousness” and suffered a large cut on his face. While the cause of the crash remains unclear, officials stated that impairment is not suspected.
A chilling image of the crash site, shared by reporter Bess Casserleigh, shows red plastic debris from Hurley’s car scattered up to 40 feet from the point of impact, highlighting the severity of the collision. “Here’s the point of impact,” Casserleigh wrote. “Pieces of red plastic from the Charger are as far as 40 feet away.”
