EVANGELOS MARINAKIS has been hailed for his “pure class” act after Nottingham Forest kept their shock title hopes alive.

The Tricky Trees earned a well-deserved point against Premier League leaders Liverpool at the City Ground on Tuesday.

Chris Wood fired the hosts into the lead inside eight minutes but Diogo Jota’s header denied them of a famous victory.

The result does keep the East Midlands outfit six points off the Reds, having played one more game.

Despite giving away the leading position to drop two points, Marinakis showed his pride in the players.

The Greek businessman was ready to greet them as the team made their way off the pitch and into the tunnel.

TNT Sports cameras caught him congratulating each of the players with hugs and high-fives.

Fans loved the moment as they reacted on social media.

One posted: “I find his passion extremely refreshing. To be so involved and with passion is something a lot of owners can learn.”

A second wrote: “Of course, very proud of what he has achieved. Good job!”

A third commented: “What a legend the boss man is. Understands the game so much better than any owner we’ve come to expect in the Premier League.”

A fourth said: “Pure class from Marinakis.”

Another added: “I want someone who looks at me the way the big boss looks at Murillo.”

Nottingham Forest will hope to maintain their impressive form this season next time out.

The club welcome strugglers Southampton to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

The match against the Saints is then followed by clashes against Bournemouth and Brighton before the FA Cup tie with Exeter City.

Marinakis, 57, has not always caught the attention for the right reasons.

In October, he was handed a five-game stadium ban after his furious outburst following the 1-0 defeat to Fulham.

Last season, he was issued with a warning after littering after his ticket to watch Forest away at Fulham was found in a bush.
