Manchester United confirmed that they have agreed new terms with Amad Diallo. The winger has penned a new contract until the summer of 2030.

The Ivory Coast international’s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the season, though the club had the option of triggering a 12-month extension clause. But the Red Devils have opted to hand a bumper new deal to the 22-year-old, who has become one of the first names on new head coach Ruben Amorim’s team sheet.

“I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United,” Amad Diallo told the club’s official website.

“I have learnt so much since arriving here four years ago; I am very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me to develop, and to the fans for driving me forward every day.

“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right path and the future is going to be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our supporters proud again.”

Man United secure Amad Diallo’s future

Amad Diallo endured a slow start to his career at Man United. After arriving in a £37 million deal from Atalanta back in 2020, the winger was subsequently sent out on loan to Rangers and Sunderland. He flourished at Sunderland scoring 14 goals in 42 games during the 2022-23 Championship campaign.

The Ivorian had an injury-hit last season at Old Trafford, although he produced some memorable moments in a Red shirt including scoring the winner in the stoppage time in the riveting 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final.

Having been in and out of the team at the start of this season under former boss Erik ten Hag, Diallo has largely benefitted from a run of games initially under ex-interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and now Amorim. The creative wide attacker has six goals and seven assists in all competitions this term, including scoring the winner for United against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in December and netting the equaliser to secure a draw at Anfield last weekend.

The African, who has also operated as a right wing-back in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, is a key part of the future of Man United. Diallo’s new deal is an important step taken by INEOS in rebuilding the squad in the vision of Amorim and his staff.
