Alisson returns for Reds

Liverpool No1 Alisson is back between the sticks for the first time since October.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has been out of action for the last 11 games with a hamstring injury he suffered during the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace.

Caoimhin Kelleher has done superbly well deputising during Alisson’s period on the sidelines, with the Irishman a huge factor in Liverpool’s recent success.

The 26-year-old keeper is amongst the subsitiutes in Spain.

Good evening and welcome to SunSport’s live blog of tonight’s Champions League action!

Tonight’s action includes two English clubs with Liverpool taking on Girona and Aston Villa going head-to-head with RB Leipzig.

The Reds are enjoying life under Arne Slot, sitting top of the Premier League and the Champions League league phase table.

Their 2-0 win over Real Madrid last time out meant that the Merseyside outfit were the first team to guarantee their place in the last-16 or the knockout play-offs.

Liverpool are looking to make it six wins from six this evening as they look to extend their two-point lead at the top of the tree.

Elsewhere, Jude Bellingham’s Real Madrid will be hoping for an upturn in form starting with tonight’s trip to Atalanta.

And Harry Kane and Co will be aiming to lead Bayern to a third straight win in the Champions League as they face Shakhtar Donetsk.
