Georgson, 42, previously coached at Arsenal and was manager of Norwegian side Lillestrom last term.

Under Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Swede worked as United’s set-piece coach.

During set plays, Georgson would enter the technical area.

But following Amorim’s arrival, set piece responsibilities now fall on his No2 Carlos Fernandes.

Despite losing his primary role, Georgson remains on the Red Devils’ coaching staff.

Asked about the switch up, Amorim, 39, said: “The thinking is Carlos is responsible for set pieces, different stuff.

“Andreas is also there to help. That’s it. That’s the reason.”

Prior to Wednesday night’s clash with the Gunners, Man Utd worked on defending set plays in the warm-up.

Despite this preparation, Arsenal scored both goals in their 2-0 win from corners.

Amorim added: “I think if you follow Premier League for a long time you can see that they (Arsenal) are also big players for that.

“And you can see it in every occasion that (Bukayo) Saka and (Gabriel) Martinelli has one against one, a lot of times they go outside and cross.

“They already know if the cross is going well, they can score. If it’s a corner, they can score.

“So we have to be better on that situation but like in every area of our game we need time to improve also.

“But you can see in all Arsenal games every team has a problem with that.”

RUUD DEPARTURE

After taking the Red Devils job, Amorim decided not to keep Van Nistelrooy as part of his coaching staff.

The Dutchman, 48, had been appointed first team coach by Ten Hag during the summer.

He then acted as caretaker manager, winning three of his four games in temporary charge.

Van Nistelrooy signalled that he’d like to stay at Old Trafford in a coaching role but was subsequently let go, with the former striker swiftly landing the vacant manager gig at Leicester.
