Tottenham plotting shock loan swoop for Real Madrid gem Endrick

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the two clubs in a strong position to sign Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick on loan.

One of the game’s hottest prospects, Endrick, 18, signed for Real Madrid from Palmeiras in December 2022 but only arrived at the club officially in July 2024 when he turned 18. Los Blancos beat competition from a host of top European clubs to the services of one of the most sought-after talents in world football.

However, with strong competition in the attacking ranks at Real Madrid, the Brazilian international has found game time hard to come by. He has made just eight appearances, with just one start to his name thus far as head coach Carlo Ancelotti looks to bed him in.

Endrick has shown his potential already in Spain with two goals and an assist in those outings, and with the player desperate for more regular action, Ancelotti is ready to let him leave on loan in the winter transfer window. Tottenham are reportedly plotting a shock move for the South American teenager but face competition from Italian giants Juventus.

Real Madrid will only accept a dry loan as they have invested a lot in Endrick and believe he has the potential to be among the best players in the world in the future. The Spanish champions will be keen to ensure that whichever club the Brazilian forward joins are competing at the highest level and can also offer him regular first-team football.

Tottenham emerge as a shock suitor for Endrick

Tottenham have had an inconsistent start to the 2024/25 season, despite enjoying a productive summer transfer window. Perhaps that is the reason why Ange Postecoglou wants to add more firepower to his squad in the mid-season trading period and has set his sights on Endrick.

Currently, the Greek-Australian tactician has the likes of Son Heung-min, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Dejan Kulusevski and Mikey Moore in the attacking ranks—all of whom who can play in positions Endrick prefers to operate in. Moreover, South Korean talent Yang Min-Hyeok is poised to join Spurs from Gangwon FC in January after signing a six-year contract during the summer transfer window.

Postecoglou has nurtured young talents and given them ample of opportunities in the first team since taking the reins at Tottenham last year. That could be the main reason why Spurs appear an attractive destination for the Real Madrid prodigy, but one cannot ignore the fact that Big Ange is stocked with attacking talents in his squad.

It would be challenging for Endrick to break into the Spurs side and garner regular game time to further his development. From Spurs point of view, they must avoid signing the Brazilian on loan regardless of how big talent he is and instead spend money on reinforcing the backline.
